Next on November 17, 2021 former US Secretary of Labor Robert Reich joins us.  He served in three administrations and is one of America’s foremost experts on jobs.  Time Magazine named him one of the Ten Best Cabinet Members of the Century.  Reich is the best-selling author of eighteen books and is the co-creator of Netflix, Saving Capitalism.  He advocates for reforms that spread the benefit of economic growth that strengthen democracy and America’s future.   Hearing his point of view on critical issues will be fascinating.  

We kick off the New Year on January 12, 2022 with an internationally respected economist and financier Mohamed El-Erian.   A go-to voice on how to decode international markets and the global economy, El-Erian dives into how global trends from technological advancements to geopolitical developments could impact market stability.  A New York Times bestselling author, The Only Game In Town provides a roadmap to what lies ahead and the decisions we must make now to stave off the next global economic and financial crisis.  To gain insight into finance during turbulent times will be invaluable.

 

On February 16, 2022 we welcome American neuroscientist and author Dr. Lisa Genova.  She is a leader in the research and understanding of the human brain.  Lisa graduated valedictorian, summa cum laude from Bates College with a degree in Biopsychology and has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Harvard University.  She is a New York Times bestselling author of several books including Still Alice about Alzheimer’s which was adapted into a film starring Julianne Moore who won the Best Actress Oscar.   Her recent nonfiction book, REMEMBER: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting became an instant New York Times bestseller.   Exploring the complexities of the human brain and answering your thought-provoking questions will be memorable.

 

We come together on March 23, 2022 to hear from former National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster.  He is a preeminent voice on leadership, global security and international affairs, renowned for his leadership in the Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Named as one of TIME’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” and Fortune’s “50 World’s Greatest Leaders”, McMaster was described in a recent New Yorker profile as having “a warrior-intellectual” who “in addition to excelling in combat… has written “Battlegrounds: The fight to defend the free world”, that examines the most critical foreign policy and security challenges of our time.”  With the geopolitical landscape ever changing, understanding how it impacts our lives is very topical.

 

The thrilling season will end on April 27, 2022 with American novelist Colson Whitehead.  Colson has established himself as one of the most versatile and innovative writers in contemporary literature in the modern era. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his novels, The Underground Railroad, a No. 1 New York Times bestseller and National Book Award winner, and The Nickel Boys, which became a best-seller after its release in July 2019.  His latest, Harlem Shuffle, a crime fiction set during the 60’s will be released in September.  Bringing this important voice to Sacramento will be a night to remember.
